Additive Constructed Seismic Rocking Columns
PhD student Anthony Mackin is leading “The Additive Constructed Seismic Rocking Columns” project at ARC-Lab, which investigated the design and 3D printing of innovative rocking columns engineered to withstand seismic activity. These columns were designed to "rock" and self-center during an earthquake, minimizing damage and enhancing the resilience of structures. By utilizing additive manufacturing, ARC-Lab aimed to create precise, efficient, and resilient seismic columns to improve safety and durability in earthquake-prone areas.
